Orange marigolds and crimson celosia stand up top, purple ageratum crowds the front edge, and dark burgundy foliage runs behind everything to make the warm colors read instead of washing out.

A peck fits where a half bushel won't — a porch step, a side table, either side of a walkway. Buy two and you've framed a door.

Care is simple. Full sun, check the water daily, and deadhead the marigolds as they go over. Celosia holds its color a long time without any help at all.

Everything in here is frost-tender, so it runs from now until the first hard frost. Around here that usually means most of October.
