Kudos Red Hummingbird Mint — Dwarf Agastache (Agastache 'Kudos Red') · 1.5 Gal
Kudos Red is the hummingbird mint that just keeps going — airy spikes of nectar-rich red flowers blooming nonstop from June to September over a neat, aromatic mound.
It's from the Kudos series, bred to stay compact and well-branched (about 10–14" tall, 22–28" wide) with excellent resistance to downy mildew, so the foliage stays clean and fresh all season. Brush a leaf and you'll catch its warm, minty-licorice scent… the same one the deer steer clear of.
Easy to please in our Northern Virginia gardens: give it full sun and well-drained soil, and it thrives right through heat and dry spells — it likes things on the drier side, so it's a perfect pick for that sunny, fuss-free spot. Hardy in zones 6–10, so in our 7b it's a true perennial that comes back to feed the bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds year after year. (It's the fiery vertical spike in our Hummingbird Heatwave trio.)
